Eleonora Nucciarelli - Tourist Guide in Florence and Tuscany

Michelangelo and the Medici

The Medici family members were cultivated bankers, generous artistic patrons and cunning politicians. The flourishing of arts in Renaissance Florence is closely connected to this dynasty’s rise to power and the personality of Michelangelo, whose talent was encouraged by Lorenzo the Magnificent. Discover the sites and masterpieces that best illustrate this connection.

Exploring San Lorenzo and San Marco districts, we will follow in the footsteps of Lorenzo the Magnificent and Michelangelo.

We will uncover the history of the most important Florentine family and their first attempts to play a decisive role in the life of the city and the establishment of absolute power.

We will see how Michelangelo executed his patrons’ will in the projects for the San Lorenzo complex of buildings.

Our tour will end in front of the most celebrated of Michelangelo’s works, David, an eternal symbol of the spirit of Renaissance and of the pride of Florence.
